  • John Bauersfeld, Head Boys Basketball Coach

    Before coming to Pinecrest, Bauersfeld served as Head Coach at Calvert Hall High School in Baltimore, MD for 11 years. He also served as the Department Chair for the Social Studies Department for several years at Calvert Hall. Bauersfeld's teams won over 200 games during his tenure at Calvert Hall, including the Baltimore Catholic League Championship in 2010, 2014, and 2015. He was named Baltimore Catholic League Coach of the Year four times, most recently in 2016. Bauersfield has coached numerous players who have gone on to play at the collegiate level, including nine at the Division I level, playing at Villanova, Louisville, Providence, and Connecticut. 2011 Calvert Hall alumnus, Damion Lee, is currently in the NBA with the Atlanta Hawks.

    Bauersfeld served as an assistant for three years under the legendary Cardinals coach, Mark Amatucci, before taking the reins in 2007. He most recently served as an assistant for USA East Coast Basketball, working with coaching legend and Hall of Famer, Coach Larry Brown. The team of college all-stars traveled to Spain in August 2017 to participate in an international tournament.

    Bauersfeld is a 1994 graduate of Calvert Hall and a 1998 graduate of Gettysburg College, where he served as Co-captain of the Men’s Basketball team during his senior year. He earned a Masters in Secondary Education from Towson University, and begins teaching in the Social Studies and English departments at Pinecrest in August 2018. Bauersfeld and his wife Jillian have been married for nine years and have three boys, Will (7), Noah (5) and Asher (2).
  • Gillian Brown - Varsity Cross Country

    Gillian Brown has served as Assistant Coach with the Varsity Cross Country program for one year, and also serves as Assistant Coach for Middle School Girls Basketball. She will be taking over as Head Coach of the Cross Country program in Fall 2018. Before joining Pinecrest, Coach Brown served as Assistant Track Coach at Jacksonville High School in Jacksonville, NC, where she served as Hurdle, Long, and Triple Jump Coach. She attended Belmont Abbey College, where she ran track all four years, as a sprinter, jumper and middle distance, and ran Cross Country for two years. Coach Brown teaches High School Science at Pinecrest.
  • Jamie Davidson - Varsity Boys Lacrosse

    Jamie Davidson played Lacrosse at West Point, and has been coaching the sport for three years. Prior to joining the Pinecrest coaching staff last year, he served as an assistant coach at Lambert High School, enjoying an undefeated season, and his team won the 2016 6A State Championship. When he’s not coaching, Mr. Davidson works at AMZ Insiders, an e-commerce company he co-founded. He and his wife, Kristin, have three boys, James, Christian, and Zachary.
  • Jillian DiFazio - Varsity Girls Lacrosse

    Jillian DiFazio played D3 lacrosse and field hockey at Randolph-Macon College in Ashland, Virginia. She was a team captain and received All-ODAC recognition. Following college, she traveled to Australia and played club lacrosse for the Glenelg Lacrosse team, where her team won the club premiership. Upon returning to the United States, DiFazio attended Widener University for a Master’s in Education. While attending graduate school, she served as an assistant coach at Swarthmore College. She moved to Atlanta, GA in 1997, where she began coaching club lacrosse at Georgia Tech and played for the Atlanta Women’s Lacrosse Club. In 2003, she began her Atlanta coaching career at North Springs High School.
    She moved to Northview High School in 2004 to be closer to home with a young family and became head coach for Chattahoochee High School in 2005. DiFazio coached the Chattahoochee Varsity team for four years and became one of the first female coaches to beat Milton High School in the State Championship in 2009. That same year, she was awarded the Georgia State Assistant Coach of the Year. In summer 2009, she became Director for the ATL, a local club team run by Xteam. At the same time, coached the Chattahoochee Jr. Cougars middle school program. In 2013, she began the Varsity Lacrosse program at Pinecrest, and in 2016, was awarded Coach of the Year in Forsyth County. For two years, Coach DiFazio served as President of the Georgia Chapter of US Lacrosse. In 2017, she was named Woman of the Year by the Georgia Chapter of US Lacrosse. She and husband Gary have two children. Daughter Sarah is a freshman at Randolph-Macon College and son Ryan is a junior at Pinecrest Academy, and plays football, basketball and lacrosse.
  • Denise Jordan - Varsity Swim & Dive

    Denise Jordan has over 35 years of swimming and soccer coaching experience, and has been at Pinecrest for 13 years. After playing soccer in college and for the Georgia Women's Soccer Association, she began teaching and coaching. She coached soccer at St. Pius X Catholic High School and Wesleyan, and started the Swim program at Wesleyan. Upon her arrival at Pinecrest, she started the Swim program here. Coach Jordan has also coached summer swimming at Briarcliff Woods Beach Club, Nottaway, Embry Hills, Fieldstone, and Ansley Golf Club, where her team was Country Club Swim Team Champion during the years 1989-2000. Coach Jordan received the Atlanta Swimming Association Coach of the Year award in 2016, and two Pinecrest alumni she coached are swimming in college. She also teaches Middle School English and has a son named Nicholas.
  • Erin McGraw - Varsity Tennis

    Erin McGraw has been coaching and teaching at Pinecrest Academy for nine years. She has served as Middle School Tennis Coach at Pinecrest for seven years, and is currently serving her third year as the Varsity Tennis Coach. Coach McGraw helped coach the Varsity Boys team to their first GHSA State Playoffs, making the Sweet 16 round in 2016. The Varsity Girls team made it to the GHSA Elite 8 round in 2016. McGraw also serves as the Middle and High School Theatrical Arts Teacher. She received the honor of Pinecrest Teacher of the Year in 2015-2016.
  • Domenic Martelli - Varsity Boys & Girls Soccer

    Domenic Martelli has been teaching and coaching at Pinecrest Academy since 2015. Prior to coming to Pinecrest, Coach Martelli served in the following positions: Assistant Women’s Soccer Coach at United States Military Academy - ARMY; Head Coach for New York Storm SC (in which they became New York State U18B Champions in 1996); Head Women's Soccer Coach at Georgia State University; Head Women's Soccer Coach at Georgia Gwinnett College. He was also part of the Eastern New York Olympic Development Staff, Georgia Olympic Development Staff, and US Soccer Region III Olympic Development Staff for many years. Since he began coaching at Pinecrest, the Boys and Girls Soccer Teams have reached the Sweet 16 and Elite 8 in the GHSA State Playoffs. Coach Martelli is a Middle School Math teacher at Pinecrest and is married to wife, Kirsten, who also teaches at Pinecrest. Their daughter, Brielle, is a freshman at the University of North Georgia, and their son, Nicholas, is a sophomore at Pinecrest Academy.
  • Terance Mathis - Varsity Football

    Pinecrest welcomed Coach Terance Mathis as Head Football Coach in late Spring of 2017. After graduating from the University of New Mexico, Mathis played in the NFL for 13 seasons for teams including the New York Jets, the Atlanta Falcons, and the Pittsburgh Steelers. He was a two-time MVP during his tenure with the Falcons, and was Falcons Man of the Year for his community service. He played in the Pro-Bowl in 1994. After a successful professional career, he became the Offensive Coordinator for Savannah State University, then served as an Assistant Coach at South Forsyth Middle School. Prior to joining the Pinecrest coaching staff, Coach Mathis was an Assistant Coach and Head Freshman Coach at Lambert High School. Coach Mathis and his wife, Arnedia have a daughter, Terae, and son, Terance Jr.
  • Chad Morris - Varsity Fencing & Golf

    Chad Morris helped start the Pinecrest Fencing program and has been coaching Fencing and Golf at Pinecrest for over four years. He also coaches at the Dunwoody Fencing Club. Students at Pinecrest have finished in the top 15 in individual fencing championships for the last two years. Two students have made the Junior Olympics Team, and one student is now part of the Cadet Puerto Rican team. Coach Morris helped establish Girls Varsity Golf and the Middle School Golf program. He also teaches High School Science. Coach Morris is married to wife, Tanya, and they have a daughter, Alyson.
  • Lauren Mullinax - Varsity Cheerleading

    Lauren Mullinax has been part of Paladin athletics for three years, and is enjoying her second year as Varsity Cheerleading Coach. In the 2016/17 school year, the Varsity Cheerleading squad finished 6th place in the State Competition. Coach Mullinax is the owner of Pure Barre in Cumming and is mom to Pat Mullinax and Labrador Max.
  • Jonathan Oshinski - Varsity Girls Basketball

    Jonathan Oshinski is a Pinecrest alumnus (Class of 2010) and currently serves as the Varsity Girls Basketball Head Coach and Middle School Baseball Coach. As a student, he played four years of varsity basketball and baseball and received a number of accolades in both sports. After graduating from Pinecrest, Oshinski attended The University of Georgia and earned his Bachelor’s degree in Health and Physical Education. In addition to his studies, Oshinski served as a team manager for the UGA women’s basketball team and Hall of Fame coach, Andy Landers, from 2013-2015. In the fall of 2015, he began working as an assistant coach for the Varsity and JV Girls Basketball teams at Oconee County High School.

    Upon returning to Pinecrest in 2016, he coached the 7th grade boys’ basketball team to win the Metro-10 Championship. In 2017, he coached both the 7th and 8th grade boys’ teams and reached the championship game again with the 8th grade boys. Oshinski also coaches middle school baseball and has recently completed a Master of Science degree in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Coaching Education from Georgia Southern University.
  • Mark Schmidt - Varsity Wrestling

    Mark Schmidt has been coaching wrestling for over 36 years, two of which have been at Pinecrest Academy. He wrestled and coached at Oklahoma State University and was co-founder of the Poly-America Wrestling Club in Texas, which achieved six Texas Team State titles and hundreds of State Champions. As a private coach, athletes coached by Coach Schmidt have received over 700 tournament titles and 23 national individual championships. His team at W.T. High School in Texas won 2nd Place in the State Tournament and produced three individual champions. When he’s not coaching wrestling, Mr. Schmidt is the Vice President and Managing Partner of Coastal General Contractors and Mansion Properties. He has four children and two grandchildren.
  • Ryan Weingart - Varsity Baseball

    A native of Chicago, Illinois, Ryan Weingart came to Pinecrest in 2012. He serves as Head Middle School Basketball Coach, Assistant Varsity Baseball Coach and Assistant Varsity Football Coach. In 2015, he was named Head Varsity Baseball Coach and Head of Baseball Operations, and lead the Varsity Baseball program to its first-ever playoff appearance in school history. A year later, he became Assistant Athletic Director​ and in​ 2017, he joined the Pinecrest Athletic Department full-time as Associate Athletic Director.
    Passionate and knowledgeable about all sports, Weingart led a highly successful career in high school athletics. He was a three-sport athlete throughout his four years of high school (football, basketball and baseball), and was awarded Most Outstanding Athlete at the end of his senior year. Weingart was highly recruited to play football and baseball for multiple D-3 and D-2 teams throughout the Midwest. He teaches High School Math and is married to Pinecrest alumna, Erica Jackson '08.
