  • Lee Anderson - Varisty Golf & Fencing

    Lee Anderson joined Pinecrest as a faculty member in 2019 and teaches Latin in the High School. Coach Anderson was introduced to golf during his college years and has played ever since.
  • Mary Alexandra (Alex) Abbey - Director of Girls Lacrosse

    Mary Alexandra (Alex) Abbey grew up in south Forsyth County and has been a parishioner at St. Benedict's Catholic Church since 2003.
    She graduated from Lambert High School where she earned 7 varsity letters (4 in Lacrosse; 3 in Basketball). During high school, she also competed in AAU Basketball and was coached by former Pinecrest Academy Girls' Basketball Coach Ken Lacy.

    She earned a B.S. in History at Shorter University, where she received a scholarship to play Lacrosse (NCAA Div II) and was a 3-year starter. After graduating, she stayed at Shorter in the capacity of Graduate Assistant, helping coach the Women's Lacrosse team during the 2017-2018 season, while working toward an M.B.A. in Sports Management.

    Alex is currently completing her M.B.A. online as she joins Pinecrest Academy.
  • Meg Bohn - Varsity Volleyball

    Meg Bohn has been coaching and teaching at Pinecrest Academy since 2008.
    She coached Middle School Volleyball from 2007-2009 and again in 2017, winning a NAML championship in 2009. She served as the Varsity Volleyball Coach from 2011-2014, and 2018-present. Coach Bohn has coached the Lady Paladins to 4 GHSA State Playoff appearances including 2012, 2014, 2018, and 2019. Bohn also serves as a High School Theology Teacher. Coach Bohn and her husband Mike have been Pinecrest Parents since 2002. All five of their children have attended Pinecrest Academy, including two Pinecrest alumnae Abbey Bohn ‘14, and Mariana Bohn ‘17.
  • Jon Brewer - Varsity Baseball Coach

    The Pinecrest community is excited to welcome Coach Jon Brewer to our family as our new Head Baseball Coach.
    Coach Brewer comes to Pinecrest Academy after serving as Head Baseball Coach the previous four seasons at Chestatee High School. Coach Brewer has six years experience as a Varsity Head Coach and has been very successful. He has led his teams to the state playoffs five out of his six years as a head coach. In 2016, Coach Brewer led Rockdale County to its first Region Championship in school history. In 2016, Coach Brewer was named Region Coach of the Year, and in 2017 and 2018, led Chestatee to its only playoff appearances in school history in one of the toughest regions in the state.

    Under Coach Brewer's leadership, Chestatee set numerous school records offensively, defensively, and in stolen bases. In 2017 Chestatee's baseball field was named "Field of the Year" by the Georgia Dugout Club. Coach Brewer was also a 2020 guest speaker at the Georgia Dugout Club Clinic where he presented his "New Age" style of baserunning. Coach Brewer has also helped over 20 players move on to play baseball collegiately or professionally. Brewer and his wife Nina have been married since 2018 and have one child, Kaiden.
  • Gillian Brown - Varsity Cross Country

    Gillian Brown has served as Assistant Coach with the Varsity Cross Country program for one year, and also serves as Assistant Coach for Middle School Girls Basketball. She will be taking over as Head Coach of the Cross Country program in Fall 2018. Before joining Pinecrest, Coach Brown served as Assistant Track Coach at Jacksonville High School in Jacksonville, NC, where she served as Hurdle, Long, and Triple Jump Coach. She attended Belmont Abbey College, where she ran track all four years, as a sprinter, jumper and middle distance, and ran Cross Country for two years. Coach Brown teaches High School Science at Pinecrest.
  • Shawn Coury - Varsity Football

    Coach Coury has served 23 seasons as a high school football coach, coaching teams from South Forsyth High School, West Forsyth High School, Cherokee High School, Holy Spirit Preparatory School, and Pinecrest Academy. His roles have included head coach, offensive coordinator, run game coordinator, offensive line coach, running backs coach, wide receivers coach, and quarterbacks coach. “I have been blessed to serve in multiple roles in many types of schools. I have had the opportunity to learn from every experience God has given. It has made me a better coach and a better leader.”

    Coury’s coaching experience doesn’t end with football. He has enjoyed 18 seasons as a high school track coach for South Forsyth High School, Cherokee High School, and Pinecrest Academy. Fifteen of those seasons were spent serving as head coach.

    A nationally certified strength and conditioning coach, Coury spent 13 years as a Strength and Conditioning Coach at West Forsyth High School, Cherokee High School, Holy Spirit Preparatory School, and Pinecrest Academy. “Except for the Friday Night Lights, there is nothing I love more as a coach then to work side by side with my athletes preparing them for the physical demands of their sports.”

    Coury originally joined Pinecrest Academy in 2007, and his wife, Kelly, joined him as a teacher in 2014. He departed Pinecrest in 2016 to pursue an opportunity with Holy Spirit Prep, serving as the head football coach and the strength and conditioning coordinator. “Holy Spirit Prep was a great blessing for my family, we built many great relationships. While leaving HSP was difficult in leaving our new friends behind, Cumming has always been home. It was important to my family to return to Forsyth, and in doing so rejoin the Pinecrest family.”

    Coury and his wife Kelly have been married for 17 years and have three children, Luke (14), Lexi (12), AND Libby (8).
  • Denise Jordan - Varsity Swim & Dive

    Denise Jordan has been coaching swimming and soccer since 1982, and has been at Pinecrest since 2005. After playing soccer in college and for the Georgia Women's Soccer Association, she began teaching and coaching. She coached soccer at St. Pius X Catholic High School and Wesleyan, and started the Swim program at Wesleyan. Upon her arrival at Pinecrest, she started the Swim program here. Coach Jordan has also coached summer swimming at Briarcliff Woods Beach Club, Nottaway, Embry Hills, Fieldstone, and Ansley Golf Club, where her team was Country Club Swim Team Champion during the years 1989-2000. Coach Jordan received the Atlanta Swimming Association Coach of the Year award in 2016, and two Pinecrest alumni she coached are swimming in college. She also teaches Middle School English and has a son named Nicholas.
  • Jay Lynch, Head Boys Basketball Coach

    Coach Lynch has been on the sidelines at Pinecrest Academy since 2004. He currently serves as the Head Coach of the Varsity Boys Basketball Team. Prior to joining Pinecrest, he served as an Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach at the University of Dallas where he was also recognized as an Academic All-American basketball player in 1997 and 1998.
  • Erin McGraw - Varsity Tennis

    Erin McGraw has been coaching and teaching at Pinecrest Academy for nine years. She has served as Middle School Tennis Coach at Pinecrest for seven years, and is currently serving her third year as the Varsity Tennis Coach. Coach McGraw helped coach the Varsity Boys team to their first GHSA State Playoffs, making the Sweet 16 round in 2016. The Varsity Girls team made it to the GHSA Elite 8 round in 2016. McGraw also serves as the Middle and High School Theatrical Arts Teacher. She received the honor of Pinecrest Teacher of the Year in 2015-2016.
  • Domenic Martelli - Varsity Boys & Girls Soccer

    Domenic Martelli has been teaching and coaching at Pinecrest Academy since 2015. Prior to coming to Pinecrest, Coach Martelli served in the following positions: Assistant Women’s Soccer Coach at United States Military Academy - ARMY; Head Coach for New York Storm SC (in which they became New York State U18B Champions in 1996); Head Women's Soccer Coach at Georgia State University; Head Women's Soccer Coach at Georgia Gwinnett College. He was also part of the Eastern New York Olympic Development Staff, Georgia Olympic Development Staff, and US Soccer Region III Olympic Development Staff for many years.
    Since Mr. Martelli began coaching at Pinecrest, the Boys and Girls Soccer Teams have reached the Sweet 16 and Elite 8, The Final 4 and The State A Championship game in the GHSA State Playoffs. Coach Martelli was awarded Georgia State Coach of the Year from the United Soccer Coaches association in 2019. Mr. Martelli is a Middle School Math teacher at Pinecrest and is married to wife, Kirsten, who also teaches at Pinecrest. Their daughter, Brielle, is a Junior at the University of North Georgia, and their son, Nicolas, is part of the Pinecrest Class of 2020.
  • Jonathan Oshinski - Varsity Girls Basketball

    Jonathan Oshinski is a Pinecrest alumnus (Class of 2010) and currently serves as the Varsity Girls Basketball Head Coach and Middle School Baseball Coach. As a student, he played four years of varsity basketball and baseball and received a number of accolades in both sports. After graduating from Pinecrest, Oshinski attended The University of Georgia and earned his Bachelor’s degree in Health and Physical Education. In addition to his studies, Oshinski served as a team manager for the UGA women’s basketball team and Hall of Fame coach, Andy Landers, from 2013-2015. In the fall of 2015, he began working as an assistant coach for the Varsity and JV Girls Basketball teams at Oconee County High School.

    Upon returning to Pinecrest in 2016, he coached the 7th grade boys’ basketball team to win the Metro-10 Championship. In 2017, he coached both the 7th and 8th grade boys’ teams and reached the championship game again with the 8th grade boys. Oshinski also coaches middle school baseball and has recently completed a Master of Science degree in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Coaching Education from Georgia Southern University.
  • Mark Schmidt - Director of Wrestling

    Mark Schmidt has been coaching wrestling for over 36 years, two of which have been at Pinecrest Academy. He wrestled and coached at Oklahoma State University and was co-founder of the Poly-America Wrestling Club in Texas, which achieved six Texas Team State titles and hundreds of State Champions. As a private coach, athletes coached by Coach Schmidt have received over 700 tournament titles and 23 national individual championships. His team at W.T. High School in Texas won 2nd Place in the State Tournament and produced three individual champions. When he’s not coaching wrestling, Mr. Schmidt is the Vice President and Managing Partner of Coastal General Contractors and Mansion Properties. He has four children and two grandchildren.
  • Chad Whitlow - Varsity Boys Lacrosse

    Chad Whitlow graduated from South Forsyth High School where he was a four year Varsity Letter winner in Lacrosse. He also played Varsity Football and Wrestling. He competed for summer club teams LB3, Pride, and Team Crease.

    Prior to earned a B.S. in Kinesiology from Harding University in Arkansas, he played Lacrosse at the University of North Georgia.

    Coach Whitlow is currently the strength and conditioning coach for the high school and also coaches football.
