New Teacher Spotlight: Mr. Dario Mobini

Welcome to our "New Teacher Spotlight," a semi-regular feature this year in the Paladin Press. This week's spotlight is on High School Theology teacher, Mr. Dario Mobini.
What is your role at Pinecrest Academy and what does it entail?

I teach Theology in the High School - it entails my being an authentic witness of truth, beauty, and goodness.

Can you share a little about yourself and your background?

I was born and raised in Rome, Italy and finished high school in San Diego, CA. I graduated from Franciscan University of Steubenville with a degree in Theology and Philosophy and a higher degree from The Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas - The Angelicum.

I have been involved in youth and young adult ministry and education for the past 22 years in and outside of the classroom, in fields such as CYO, Young Life, Life Teen, and Campus Ministry. I have also served as a pilgrim guide on countless trips abroad to Italy, Germany, France, Spain, and World Youth Days in Paris 1997, Rome 2000, Cologne 2005, Sydney 2008, Madrid 2011, Rio de Janeiro 2013, Krakow 2016, and Panama 2019 with JMJ Youth.

As Editor of worldyouthday.com, and as a freelance journalist, I have participated in countless papal events throughout the world, at the Vatican, The World Meeting of Families, and Rome in October 2018 for the Synod on the Youth.

You can find my contributions to news organizations such as EWTN, www.worldyouthday.com, Catholic News Agency, National Catholic Register, and Legatus magazine.

I have been married for 17 years. My wife and I have fostered over 40 children, and have five -- soon to be six -- beautiful children of our own.  Four are students in the Lower School.

What do you enjoy most about teaching?  Is there a particular highlight in your career?

It’s hard to pick just one! I enjoy the adventure that academia brings, as we journey together in the pursuit of truth, beauty, and goodness!  After 22 years of teaching, I can say that my highlight has always been seeing my former students checking in.

What drew you to Pinecrest Academy?

The core values and the identity of the school brought me here.  I can truly see the beauty of this environment that allows for students to grow holistically in their pursuit of holiness.
