Dear Pinecrest Families,
We are excited to begin sharing with you all of the details concerning the
Grand Re-Opening on August 6 of our High School and August 10 of our Middle School, Lower School, and PreK. This letter is the first in a series of communications rolling out details about our COVID-19 reopening plans. You will be able to access these communications on our website as well. (View the accompanying video
HERE.)
Our COVID-19 Task Force has helped guide our decisions, and we have a solid reopening plan moving forward. These decisions have been made following all Executive Orders from Governor Kemp, all CDC and Georgia Department of Health and Education guidelines, IPC Global COVID-19 Index data, and Children's Healthcare of Atlanta recommendations. To the best of our ability, we have gathered factual data, not conjecture or media spin, to inform our decision making. These are complicated times, and no decision is being made lightly. The best possible outcome for our students is the primary focus of all of our plans.
We have had our first COVID-19 case, as you know, and we can share that only that one student was affected and is doing very well. No other student athlete or coach tested positive or had any symptoms. The Forsyth County Board of Health gave us high marks for our response, specifically for the procedures Coach Coury put in place from the beginning, and protocols Nurse Missy Collins followed after we were notified of the exposure.
The theme for this school year will need to be: Shared Responsibility and Partnership
No matter how thoughtful and detailed our plan is, it will not be successful without each of us doing our part!
Please mark your calendar and check your emails for these COVID-19 Communications:
- COVID-19 parent info coming to you this weekend
- Task Force Q and A on Zoom - Wednesday, July 15, from 7-9pm
- Frequent 60-second videos with info on specific topics
- Periodic educational info and updates on the state of the school
Together we are going to walk in faith and open our school with joy, confidence, and charity. May God continue to bless us, our school, and all of our families, past, present, and future.
In Christ,
Charlene Dougal Beth Howard
COVID-19 Task Force Coordinator Interim Head of School
