Pinecrest Academy Announces New Food Service
Chef Chris Harwell has been retained as Pinecrest Academy’s new food service provider. Chef Harwell has catered several Pinecrest events over the past couple of years, most recently our 2018 Graduation reception.
Chef Harwell is a Certified Executive Chef and Gold Medal holder sanctioned by the American Culinary Federation. He began his culinary career at Rudolph's on Green Street and studied at the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, New York. Chef Harwell’s industry experience spans restaurants, upscale catering, health care, and corporate interests, and he currently holds the position of Executive Chef at Johns Creek Baptist Church in Alpharetta, GA. His new company, Chris Harwell CEC, is the culmination of his career focusing on serving the Pinecrest community. He is proud father to Madison, a first grader at Pinecrest Academy.
Besides offering a nutritious and delicious menu for our Lower, Middle, and High School students, Chef Harwell brings some exciting new offerings as our new food service partner:
- Breakfast available for Middle and High School Students from 7-9am each morning beginning on September 1 (cash or credit basis)
- Freshly ground gourmet coffee served throughout the day beginning in September
- A “Food Court” for Middle and High School students, and faculty and staff, serving deli sandwiches and pizza, grill items, and an extensive salad bar and soups, in addition to daily lunch items
- Five lunch menu items for the Lower School everyday to enhance choices and variety
Chef Harwell’s philosophy is to provide the freshest, least processed, most natural food possible. “The most important commitment I can make is to maintain taste and appeal, and balance that with the highest quality ingredients and sound production methods,” says Chef Harwell.
Here’s how to order lunch for your child:
1. Log in to the Paladin Portal from the homepage of the Pinecrest website;
2. Click the “Lunch Service” link on the resource page and set up an account;
3. Proceed onto the site to place your order.
Families may receive a preferred pricing deadline of 7 days prior to the day of service for the order to be submitted. There is also a three-day window ordering option, for which is an additional $.50 per order; there is also the availability to place an order the day of service, up to 7am, for an additional $1 per order.
