Arturo Merriman ’11

Arturo Merriman ’11 will be ordained a transitional deacon on May 20 at 10:00am at St. Peter Chanel Catholic Church in Roswell.  A recent article in The Georgia Bulletin shared: After graduation from the University of Georgia in 2015, Arturo Merriman worked as a project manager for a home builder and developer. But it did not satisfy him. “Spending a good amount of time debating the purpose of life in classes, praying with God about where that purpose was, and seeing others ahead of me take the plunge into the commitment of the priest moved my heart to serve,” he wrote.  Sharing God’s word “will be an honor to speak to those in the pews and also a challenge I will enjoy,” he said.

After becoming a transition deacon in May, the final step in Arturo’s vocational journey will be his priestly ordination.

Arturo will assist and preach at his first Mass as a Deacon on Sunday, May 21, 2023 at 10:30 AM at St. Clare Catholic Church in Acworth.
