Brigitte Rivard '21

Brigitte Rivard is pursuing a master's in global affairs at the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University, after graduating from Georgia College with a bachelor’s degree in strategic communications.
Brigitte was first introduced to the world of international advocacy and humanitarian aid in high school on an ECYD mission summer in the Philippines. She witnessed the inequity in underserved communities and how serving those communities can shed an intense beam of light into them. “My most impactful experience on this trip was connecting with young women rescued from human trafficking at a safe house,” shares Brigitte.

Later in high school, she participated in a FIAT trip with Mrs. Beth Howard to the United Nations New York headquarters for the commission on the global status of women. There, Brigitte found a passion for advocacy and international affairs.

After graduating from Pinecrest, she studied criminal justice and political science at Georgia College.  She then studied abroad in Geneva, Switzerland, to study global governance within the United Nations, Geneva, and many of its affiliated international organizations. She connected with numerous global officials and was mentored by the Ambassador of the Order of Malta for the fight against human trafficking in the UN, to major in strategic communications, and effectively communicate global issues.

Brigitte later studied international communications and leadership within the Council of Europe in Strasbourg, France, for a summer with GCSU.
