Pinnacle Field

Pinecrest Pinnacle Field

Our original varsity athletic field, which debuted for play in 2003, was converted from sod to turf in 2019. It was the first major improvement project in over 10 years for our private school Athletic program. Upgrading to turf provided solutions to weather cancellations and scheduling conflicts that came with having a sod field, while offering savings in maintenance costs, set-up, and field lining.

Dedicated, blessed, and played on for the very first time on September 13, 2019, an official ribbon cutting ceremony christened the upgraded field. The celebration included Coach Charles Wiggins, our first Varsity Football Coach, alumni, parents of alumni, current families, staff, benefactors, board members, and friends of Pinecrest Academy.  Pinnacle Design/Build Group, the new field’s creator and namesake, also participated in the ribbon cutting event held on the field at our private school.

Varsity and Middle School sports utilize Pinnacle Field year-round.

A bit about the original field and origins of the Paladin football program…

The original four who brought football to Pinecrest Academy were Russ Russel (Athletic Director), Jim Dugal, Ray Lagomasino, and Mary Wise. Dugal bought all of the equipment for the Varsity and JV teams, recruited coaches, found games for teams to play, and worked with parent, Jason Creech, to carve out the original football field. Dugal purchased the goalposts and 7-man sled. Dugal and Lagomasino helped obtain Board approval to bring football to our private Catholic school, coached, filmed, and did much of the day-to-day work to launch what would turn out to be a very successful football program.

The original field didn’t come with a lot of fanfare in 2003 but was a graciously-received gift by the community, thanks to the dedication and hard work of those who foresaw a bright future and the many memories that would be made on this football field.
