CMSL Recreational Soccer Invitation

Is your child interested in playing soccer this spring?
Are you interested in finding a way for your child to participate in an activity with his or her classmates? If so, Pinecrest Academy is still looking for boys and girls in grades 1-5 who are interested in participating in our recreational soccer program. Here is more information regarding league play and registration details.

Pinecrest Academy is excited to announce that we have joined the Catholic Metro Soccer League (CMSL). For those who have played recreational basketball at Pinecrest, this is the soccer division of the Catholic Metro League of Atlanta (CMLA). Our previous league, UFA, informed us recently that they are no longer able to support our teams. Thus, we reached out to CMSL, and they have graciously allowed us to compete in their league this spring. We are excited about this opportunity and want to make you aware of a few differences as you consider registration.

Travel:
Rather than playing all of our games at the Polo Fields, our teams will travel to a handful of locations. Half of our games will take place on our campus at Campo Grande, and the other half will take place at local parishes/schools within the diocese. In an effort to cut down on travel time, CMSL has created “regions” where our teams will travel to, but not necessarily against. Our region locations include schools/parishes in Cumming, Alpharetta, Roswell, and Sandy Springs. Though there are other schools that we would compete against, travel would not go further than these locations.

Season Schedule:
Each team will compete in 7 games starting the weekend of March 11, concluding on May 6. Teams will be off the weekends of April 1 and April 8 to accommodate Spring Break and Easter. There will be no post-season tournament.

Teams:
Another difference between CMSL and UFA is that teams will be grouped by grade, rather than age. This is a positive change for our community, based on requests to be able to play with classmates and against other kids in the same grade.

Below is a breakdown of grade specific league rules.

1st Grade | 4v4 | size 3 ball | 4x6 goal
2nd Grade | 5v5 | size 3 ball | 6x12 goal
3rd/4th Grade | 7v7 | size 4 ball | 6x18 goal
5th/6th Grade | 6v6 for girls and 8v8 for boys | size 4 ball | 6x18 goal

We are still looking for more 1st-5th grade students to sign up so that we can complete our rosters. If we do not have enough to play, we will not be able to offer a team for that grade. Spring Soccer is a great opportunity, not only for your child to learn the game of soccer, but also to spend time with classmates and be a part of the Pinecrest Community. We would love for your child to participate on one of our teams this spring!

The registration deadline has been extended to February 5. Once it has closed, we will be able to send out more information about teams and practices.

We are also looking for volunteers to help coach! If you are willing to help out, please be sure to indicate on your registration that you would like to coach.

Here is the REGISTRATION LINK. Please email Jonathan Oshinski at joshinski@pinecrestacademy.org if you have any questions. We look forward to putting on a great season and hope you will join us this spring.
