Matthew Crane Takes 3rd at Fencing Championship

Congratulations to Matthew Crane, who took 3rd place at the Individual Fencing Championships hosted at Alpharetta High School on January 25! Out of more than 230 fencers in the Georgia High School Fencing League, only 84 qualified for the championships. Matthew had an outstanding day, starting as the 25th seed. He finished pools at the 2nd seed and lost in the semifinals 15-14.

 

Pinecrest is the only private school in the League and has consistently had outstanding results.

Gabi Rodriguez took 15th on the ladies’ side, after finishing pools at 25th.

 

Congratulations to all of our qualifiers - Gabi Rodriguez, Natalie Jennings, Jonni Goughnour, Matthew Crane, Alberto Figueredo, and Trip Smith.

 

Team championships are on Saturday, February 1, at North Springs High School.

 

The Georgia High School Fencing League is the oldest high school fencing league in Georgia and the third largest high school fencing league in the United States.
