Michael Denkman '17 and Patrick Carroll '15 will both be deployed to the Middle East in January 2019.

Michael enlisted in the Georgia Army National Guard in February of 2018. In May 2018, he started 10 weeks of Basic Combat Training at Ft. Benning in Ft. Benning, GA. Afterwards, he went on to four weeks of Advanced Infantry Training. Michael earned the coveted blue Infantry cord in a Turning Blue ceremony in August 2018, officially making him an Infantryman. Within two weeks of his return home, Michael was ordered to active duty. He began pre-deployment training in November at Ft. Stewart in Ft. Stewart, GA.  He will be deployed to the Middle East and will serve there for approximately one year.

Patrick Carroll ’15, has chosen the same path as Michael, desiring to serve his country in the military. Patrick enlisted in the Army in January 2018, and graduated from basic training in June 2018.  He will also be deployed to the Middle East in January 2019, serving in a different unit.

Michael attended Pinecrest Academy for eleven years, graduating in 2017. While at Pinecrest, he lettered on the Varsity Swim Team and was on the State Swim Team four years in a row. He holds the Men’s 100-yard Breast Stroke record at Pinecrest and was also a founding member of the Church of Iron.

Michael is the second oldest of four children. All of his siblings attended Pinecrest Academy. His oldest sister Keely ‘15, attended Pinecrest for 10 years.  His younger brother, Nicholas attended Pinecrest for nine years and his younger sister, Gabrielle, attended Pinecrest for 10 years.

Patrick graduated from Pinecrest in 2015, is the second of seven children, and has three siblings currently at Pinecrest - JP, Christian, and Catalina. Two older sisters are also Pinecrest graduates.

Michael and Patrick met at Pinecrest Academy. From the very beginning of their friendship, they shared a thirst for adventure and a lifestyle on the road less traveled. Their friendship took root when they were on the Varsity Swim team together.  It was then that they shared their mutual interest in serving in the military.  Eventually, after their respective graduations from Pinecrest, they enlisted in the Army within months of each other.

We thank these two young men for their service to our country!
