The Paladin wrestlers returned to action December 9th in a triple dual hosted by Mount Pisgah, squaring off against Pisgah, Mill Springs and Atlanta International. In what became a night of firsts, the team notched not just the first Pinecrest individual victories, but the first two dual victories ever in the history of the program.
The Paladins got off to a rough start, falling to host Pisgah by a team final of 18-28. Sam Adams, Sean Pfiel and Alex Fabian picked up forfeit points, but the more experienced Patriots keeped the rest of the wrestlers from additional victories.
In the second dual against Mill Springs, history was made twice--as Nick Miller garnered the first match victory with a pin. That began the momentum swing as that pin was followed by pins by Colin Steinbach and Gabe Underwood, as well as a forfeit to Alex Fabian. When the dust settled, a 30-18 showed for the first ever Pinecrest team victory.
Not satisfied with one, the Paladins finished the night garnering their second team victory against Atlanta International School. The Paladins went down by twelve to Atlanta International early, but pins by Nick Miller and Sean Pfiel, as well as forfeit points from Colin Steinbach, Sam Adams, Alex Fabian and Gabe Underwood sealed the deal for the second win with a final of 36-18.
Pinecrest has plenty of tournament action scheduled, starting with this Friday as they travel to Lambert High for a round robin tournament against Athens Academy, Centennial, Walnut Grove, Johns Creek, West Forsyth, Alpharetta, Loganville, Cherokee, Lambert, and Chattahoochee. Wrestling is slated to start at 5:30.
