Sommer Ross Signs to Play D1 Women’s Ice Hockey

Former Pinecrest student, Sommer Ross, signed a National Letter of Intent on November 9, to play D1 Women’s Ice Hockey for The College of the Holy Cross, beginning in fall 2018. The signing took place at The Summit Ice Arena in Lansing, Michigan, where Sommer currently plays with her 19UAAA Meijer Women’s Ice Hockey team. Sommer’s coaches, teammates, and family members were in attendance for the official signing and reception.

Playing D1 hockey for Holy Cross accomplishes a goal that Sommer has been working to achieve since she began playing hockey at age 5. She attributes her success to achieving this goal, in part, to the many support systems she has had over the years - her family, friends, coaches, teachers, and Pinecrest administration, for allowing her the flexibility in daily schedules to pursue her goals.

While Sommer had to leave Pinecrest Academy for her senior year to pursue her hockey career, she and her family have been a part of the Pinecrest community for 13 years. Sommer stays in close touch with her class, attends many school events, and remains a part of our extended PA family.

We are so proud of Sommer’s wonderful accomplishment and wish her well on the ice!
