Charlene Dougal, Interim Director of Advancement

Mrs. Dougal has been a member of the Pinecrest community since 2013 when her husband, Al, was transferred back to the Atlanta area.
They settled in Cumming, GA in order for their two children, Rachel and Charlie, to attend Pinecrest Academy. She came on board as the Director of Development in September of 2017. Charlene has a degree in business from the University of Buffalo and has spent her entire working career in the non-profit sector as a professional fundraiser.

Her experience includes employment at five institutions of higher learning including University of Buffalo, Virginia Commonwealth University, The American University, Swarthmore College, and Agnes Scott College. As a professional fundraiser she ran development programs for Capital Campaigns, Annual Funds, Major Gifts, Research and Records, Corporation and Foundation giving, Grant Writing, Planned Giving, Stewardship, Alumni Relations, Reunion Giving, and Special Events.

In 2001 she left the workforce to stay at home with her children. In 2009 she founded a non-profit, Change Our Hearts, Inc., a food rescue organization serving seven food pantries in the Marietta area. In 2011 her nonprofit received the United Way Hand in Heart Volunteer of the Year Award for its work with the Center for Families Resources.

She has volunteered at Pinecrest with the Challenge Club as the formator for team leaders and also served as the coach of two Pinecrest Odyssey of the Mind Team for three years.

As Director of Development for Pinecrest, Charlene successfully completed a campaign to build a new Lower School building and a new turf field. Her efforts also increased overall giving from 16% to 72% participation, and Charlene coordinated the two most successful galas in Pinecrest history.

She was incorporated into the Regnum Christi movement in 2015 and has served as the head of the women’s ministry Walking with Purpose at St. Brendan’s Catholic Church for the past six years. Currently she is a team leader for a Regnum Christi encounter team and this group also serves as a discernment group for potential new RC members at Pinecrest Academy.
