Lauren Hennigar ‘18
Lauren Hennigar ‘18 accepted a position on the Aflac Hematology/Oncology Unit at Scottish Rite Hospital for Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta’s Nurse Extern Program. The program is difficult to get accepted into; 500-700 apply for roughly 50 extern spots. The Nurse Extern Program is an eight-week summer employment opportunity for rising senior nursing students to acquire knowledge of the pediatric hospital setting, while learning how to make decisions in the nursing field. Lauren completed the Nurse Extern Program in summer 2021 and resumed studies in the College of Nursing at the University of Tennessee.
