Matthew Crane Named to First Team for USA High School All American Team

Matthew Crane has made the First Team for the USA High School All American Fencing Team. USA Fencing recognizes high school fencers across the country who have achieved at a high level on the fencing strip. Athletes are encouraged to pursue this honor and be recognized as the best high school fencers in the country. In addition to their superior skills in the sport, All-Americans exhibit excellent leadership and sportsmanship.
 
Matthew was selected based on the following criteria:
  • Must be a current USA Fencing Competitive, Life or High School Club Member
  • Must be in 9-12th grade
  • Must have earned or renewed an E rating or higher in the current fencing season
  • Must be in good academic standing at their school
  • Must have displayed exceptional character as an athlete, a student, and a community member      
First Team USA Fencing All-Americans must have earned or renewed an “A” or “B” during the current competitive season and satisfied other requirements listed above. Matthew earned his B ranking in Fall 2019.
 
As a Paladins Fencer, Matthew has earned other accolades, including placing 3rd at the Individual Fencing Championships at Alpharetta High School in January; winning Gold at the Pope High School Fencing Tournament in November 2019, and participating in the Cadet Epee Fencing Tournament in Orlando in December 2018, taking 2nd Place! With points earned from this accomplishment, he qualified for the Junior Olympics National Championships for the Cadet division and for the July Invitational in Summer 2019 for the Cadet level.
