Pinecrest Academy Will Open for In-Person Instruction

Pinecrest Academy is pleased to announce that our campus will be open for in-person instruction on August 6, 2020.
High School students will return on August 6, followed by Middle and Lower School students on August 10.

Our 25-member COVID-19 Task Force, which includes a member of the National Coronavirus Recovery Commission, has advised our administration in their crafting of a School Reopening Plan, which follows CDC guidelines, and local and State regulations, along with recommendations from our Board of Directors. This plan considers data pertaining to children, specifically, data from several medical sources, advising schools to prepare children to get back into the classroom for in-person instruction. Data specific to our geographic area, as it relates to COVID-19, is also being monitored.

The School Reopening Plan includes three courses of action -- Red, Yellow, and Green. The Red Course of Action is a virtual learning scenario.  We plan to open Pinecrest Academy with a Yellow Course of Action - in-person learning, with heavier restrictions in place. Our goal is to eventually move to the Green Course of Action, which is in-person learning with lesser restrictions. All parents, faculty, and staff have access to our School Reopening Plan. A Virtual Q&A webinar was presented on July 15 for all parents.

Safety measures are being implemented campus-wide to protect students, faculty, staff, and families. In most cases, desks can be spaced 6-feet apart, frequent handwashing and use of hand sanitizers will be expected, and the use of masks are recommended in certain situations. Protocol is in place to handle any active cases of COVID-19 that could occur within our school community, working with the CDC and the Georgia Department of Health. Our Task Force will continue to monitor the fluid COVID-19 data and the Governor’s directives to ensure the best plans are in place for our successful return to campus for the 2020-2021 school year.
