Laura Kelley - Lower School Learning Specialist/K-12 Curriculum Coordinator

Laura works with individual students, as well as small 1st-3rd grade developmental reading groups.
She employs a multi-sensory learning approach and interactive learning activities to engage students in active learning. In addition to providing foundational support in reading and math skills, Laura works closely with teachers and parents to solidify each student's executive functioning skills and teach strategies that are essential to future academic success.

In addition to work as a Learning Specialist, Laura is the Pinecrest Academy PreK-12  Curriculum Coordinator, providing instructional leadership across all grade levels and subject areas. She works with the Principals and Deans of Academics to evaluate and implement research-based curriculum and instruction; provide leadership in the development, articulation, and implementation of instructional programs; and assist in the coordination of relevant staff development.

Laura holds a Bachelor's degree from the University of South Florida and a Master's Degree from the University of Florida. She is a certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner with a specialty in Developmental Pediatrics. She is an Orton Gillingham trained Reading Educator and Project Lead the Way STEM educator.

Laura and her husband, Phil, are one of Pinecrest Academy's Founding Families. Their four daughters attended Pinecrest from Pre-K through High School. Throughout the years, she supported the fledgling school in many roles, including work with admissions, fundraising, and event coordination. During the last 15 years, she has taught 5th grade and served as 3rd-5th Grade Level Chair, as well as Lower School Dean of Academics. She currently serves as Lower School Learning Specialist and K-12 Curriculum Coordinator.
