Tess Fleck - High School Learning Specialist

In 2008, Tess began at Pinecrest Academy as a fourth grade teacher.
She came to Pinecrest after holding several educator and leadership roles in Ohio. She has worked as a reading specialist, PreK–5th grade teacher, and lead teacher. Since 2016, Tess has served many students as an academic and Orton Gillingham tutor through her private business. Her tutoring sessions are designed according to the needs and strengths of each individual student. She works with students who have dyslexia and other speech and language related differences by providing a multi-sensory learning approach and implementing teaching techniques to stimulate engaging learning.

As an academic and Orton Gillingham tutor at Pinecrest, Tess worked with students individually on their specific learning needs to strengthen their individual learning style. She also worked very closely with the classroom teachers and parents.

Tess began serving as a Learning Specialist at Pinecrest in the high school in August 2020, working with students individually and in small groups. She addresses students' varying learning styles and needs, while providing individualized academic support. She teaches students strategies and executive functioning skills to support their individual learning and assists them in academic success through the development of self-advocacy skills. Tess monitors student progress, establishes goals, and provides updates on student achievement.

Tess holds a Master’s degree in Curriculum and Supervision from Wright State University, Dayton, OH, and a Bachelor’s of Science in Elementary Education from WSU. She completed post graduate work with the University of Cincinnati in Special Education, Learning Differences, and Early Childhood studies. Her qualifications include certification in Early Childhood, Middle Grades, and Reading Specialist grades K-12. She has completed The Complete Reading Series from the Georgia Educational Training Agency and is an Orton-Gillingham tutor.

She has served in several leadership and apostolate roles, including Familia, Kids for Jesus, Challenge Club, Christian Life, and Vocation Action Circle in Ohio. Tess is presently serving on the Regnum Christi Women’s Leadership Council for Atlanta.
