Charlene Dougal, Director of Development
Mrs. Charlene Dougal has been a member of the Pinecrest community since 2013, when her husband, Al, was transferred back to the Atlanta area. They settled in Cumming, GA so that their two children, Rachel and Charlie, could attend Pinecrest Academy.
She joined Pinecrest as head of our development efforts in September 2017. Charlene holds a degree in Business from the University of Buffalo and spent her entire working career in the non-profit sector as a professional fundraiser. Her experience includes employment at five institutions of higher learning, including University of Buffalo, Virginia Commonwealth University, The American University, Swarthmore College, and Agnes Scott College. As a professional fundraiser, Charlene ran development programs for capital campaigns, annual funds, major gifts, research and records, corporation and foundation giving, grant writing, planned giving, stewardship, alumni relations, reunion giving, and special events. In 2001, she retired from the working world to stay at home with her children. In 2009, she founded a non-profit, Change Our Hearts, Inc., a food rescue organization serving seven food pantries in the Marietta, GA area. In 2011, her nonprofit received the "United Way Hand in Heart Volunteer of the Year Award" for its work with the Center for Families Resources. Charlene has volunteered at Pinecrest with the Challenge Club, and has also served as Coach of the Lower School Odyssey of the Mind Team for three years.
