  • Visual Arts

All Middle School students take art class once a week. There is also an Advanced Art elective for 7th and 8th graders that meets daily. The advanced class is a good option for students who are passionate about art and want to work on more complex, time consuming projects. In 6th, 7th and 8th grade, a variety of mediums and techniques are used to create drawings, paintings and sculptures. The school hosts a Middle School Festival of the Arts at the end of each semester to showcase students' artwork. The visual arts at Pinecrest help students foster creativity, appreciate beauty, and build confidence.
  • Theatrical Arts

The Theatrical Arts department works to develop a student’s creativity, analytics, discipline and self-confidence. Students are provided the opportunity to create and appreciate the performing arts through hands-on learning, theory, formal principles, and cultural history. Students are taught skills that enhance their talents as performers of drama, music and dance. They also gain knowledge and experience with the aspects of technical theater and stagecraft. Every performance is a reflection of the person who created it, so they gain insight into themselves through the process. Students may take Music Appreciation and Musical Theater classes in 6th-8th grades. The Musical Theater class culminates with a production each year. Past musicals have included productions of Alice in Wonderland, Jr., Dear Edwina, Jr., Pirates! The Musical, Snow Biz, and High School Musical Jr., just to name a few.
  • Band

Middle School Band students have class every day, with the option of playing a variety of instruments, including flute, oboe, clarinet, bass clarinet, bassoon, saxophones (alto, tenor, baritone), trumpet, french horn, trombone, euphonium, tuba, and percussion. Students perform in a band concert each semester, and in addition, private lessons and chamber ensembles are offered on campus through the Ascension Music Academy. Students may also audition or be selected for All State, All District, All Select, and All Archdiocesan Honor Bands. Students are highly encouraged to take private lessons, play in chamber ensembles, audition for honor bands, and perform in festivals to enhance their talents and skills.
