  • Matthew Crane Named to First Team for USA High School All American Team

    Matthew Crane has made the First Team for the USA High School All American Fencing Team. USA Fencing recognizes high school fencers across the country who have achieved at a high level on the fencing strip. Athletes are encouraged to pursue this honor and be recognized as the best high school fencers in the country. In addition to their superior skills in the sport, All-Americans exhibit excellent leadership and sportsmanship.
     
    Matthew was selected based on the following criteria:
    • Must be a current USA Fencing Competitive, Life or High School Club Member
    • Must be in 9-12th grade
    • Must have earned or renewed an E rating or higher in the current fencing season
    • Must be in good academic standing at their school
    • Must have displayed exceptional character as an athlete, a student, and a community member      
    First Team USA Fencing All-Americans must have earned or renewed an “A” or “B” during the current competitive season and satisfied other requirements listed above. Matthew earned his B ranking in Fall 2019.
     
    As a Paladins Fencer, Matthew has earned other accolades, including placing 3rd at the Individual Fencing Championships at Alpharetta High School in January; winning Gold at the Pope High School Fencing Tournament in November 2019, and participating in the Cadet Epee Fencing Tournament in Orlando in December 2018, taking 2nd Place! With points earned from this accomplishment, he qualified for the Junior Olympics National Championships for the Cadet division and for the July Invitational in Summer 2019 for the Cadet level.

  • Register for Junior Paladins Soccer by July 22

    Please register your Lower School child for our Junior Paladins Recreational Soccer program.  Registration closes on Wednesday, July 22. 
     
    The commitment to Junior Paladin Soccer is one practice a week for one hour and one game on Saturdays. Practice schedules are made available once all of our volunteer coaches have been identified. 
     
    Players are placed on a team according to their age, NOT by grade level. Please use these bullet points as a reference to see what level each player would be assigned to based on their age.
     
    U6 League - Born in 2015, 2016
    U8 League - Born in 2013, 2014
    U10 League - Born in 2011, 2012
    U12 League - Born in 2009, 2010
     
    The first practices will begin the week of Monday, August 31. Teams will have a one-hour slot on one particular day each week throughout the season (i.e. every Tuesday at 3:30-4:30). Games begin on Saturday, September 12, with the final games on November 14. 
     
    There are two places where you will have to register; once on our Pinecrest Academy registration site, where you will submit your payment, and once on the UFA site, where you will submit your contact information and complete the necessary participation waivers.  

    Please keep in mind that you will ONLY submit payment through Pinecrest Academy, NOT UFA's system. There are detailed instructions through the link below that will help explain how to register into UFA's system and how to avoid the payment at the end of the UFA registration.  If you are interested in coaching a team, you can do this on the registration site or you can send Mr. Jay Lynch an email.

    After July 22, a late fee of $25 will be added and you will not be guaranteed a spot on a team. Our teams are due to UFA soon after our registration closes and we can only accept players to a team if space is available.

  • Use of Pinecrest Athletic Fields and Facilities

    Pinecrest Academy is so blessed to have several athletic fields, two gyms, and a weight room to accommodate our athletes!  We would like to remind our families that, outside of scheduled and screened athlete workouts, Pinecrest fields, gyms, and weight room are closed. We kindly ask that our community refrain from using our athletic facilities for individual or group use, as they are reserved for official athletic or school activities and events.

  • Varsity Boys Basketball Coach - Jay Lynch

  • Varsity Girls Basketball - Jonathan Oshinski

    Jonathan Oshinski is a Pinecrest alumnus (Class of 2010) and currently serves as the Varsity Girls Basketball Head Coach and Middle School Baseball Coach. As a student, he played four years of varsity basketball and baseball and received a number of accolades in both sports. After graduating from Pinecrest, Oshinski attended The University of Georgia and earned his Bachelor’s degree in Health and Physical Education. In addition to his studies, Oshinski served as a team manager for the UGA women’s basketball team and Hall of Fame coach, Andy Landers, from 2013-2015. In the fall of 2015, he began working as an assistant coach for the Varsity and JV Girls Basketball teams at Oconee County High School.

    Upon returning to Pinecrest in 2016, he coached the 7th grade boys’ basketball team to win the Metro-10 Championship. In 2017, he coached both the 7th and 8th grade boys’ teams and reached the championship game again with the 8th grade boys. Oshinski also coaches middle school baseball and has recently completed a Master of Science degree in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Coaching Education from Georgia Southern University.
  • Varsity Swim & Dive - Denise Jordan

    Denise Jordan has over 35 years of swimming and soccer coaching experience, and has been at Pinecrest for 13 years. After playing soccer in college and for the Georgia Women's Soccer Association, she began teaching and coaching. She coached soccer at St. Pius X Catholic High School and Wesleyan, and started the Swim program at Wesleyan. Upon her arrival at Pinecrest, she started the Swim program here.

    Coach Jordan has also coached summer swimming at Briarcliff Woods Beach Club, Nottaway, Embry Hills, Fieldstone, and Ansley Golf Club, where her team was Country Club Swim Team Champion during the years 1989-2000. Coach Jordan received the Atlanta Swimming Association Coach of the Year award in 2016, and two Pinecrest alumni she coached are swimming in college. She also teaches Middle School English and has a son named Nicholas.
  • Director of Wrestling - Mark Schmidt

    Mark Schmidt has been coaching wrestling for over 36 years, two of which have been at Pinecrest Academy. He wrestled and coached at Oklahoma State University and was co-founder of the Poly-America Wrestling Club in Texas, which achieved six Texas Team State titles and hundreds of State Champions. As a private coach, athletes coached by Coach Schmidt have received over 700 tournament titles and 23 national individual championships. His team at W.T. High School in Texas won 2nd Place in the State Tournament and produced three individual champions. When he’s not coaching wrestling, Mr. Schmidt is the Vice President and Managing Partner of Coastal General Contractors and Mansion Properties. He has four children and two grandchildren.
