Varsity Boys Soccer enjoyed a great Region win vs Lakeview Academy 3-0 on Friday, March 12. Along with awesome effort by the entire team, goals were scored by Sebastian Santa Maria, Colin Brown, and Lewis Diaz. The boys now have a 2 win and 0 loss Region record.
Despite their best team effort, Varsity Girls Soccer lost a heartbreaker to Lakeview 3 to 2 on Friday, March 12. Goals were scored by Ivey Crain.
email@example.com Chad Whitlow graduated from South Forsyth High School where he was a four year Varsity Letter winner in Lacrosse. He also played Varsity Football and Wrestling. He competed for summer club teams LB3, Pride, and Team Crease.
Prior to earned a B.S. in Kinesiology from Harding University in Arkansas, he played Lacrosse at the University of North Georgia.
Coach Whitlow is currently the strength and conditioning coach for the high school and also coaches football.
firstname.lastname@example.org Gillian Brown served as Assistant Coach with the Varsity Cross Country program for one year, and became head coach in Fall 2018. She also serves as JV Lacrosse coach. Before joining Pinecrest, Coach Brown served as Assistant Track Coach at Jacksonville High School in Jacksonville, NC, where she served as Hurdle, Long, and Triple Jump Coach. She attended Belmont Abbey College, where she ran track all four years, as a sprinter, jumper and middle distance, and ran Cross Country for two years. Coach Brown teaches High School Science at Pinecrest.
Coach Brewer has many years experience as a Varsity Head Coach and has been very successful leading his teams to the state playoffs five out of his six years as a head coach. In 2016, Coach Brewer led Rockdale County to its first Region Championship in school history and was named Region Coach of the Year. In 2017 and 2018, he led Chestatee to its only playoff appearances in school history in one of the toughest regions in the state.
Under Coach Brewer's leadership, Chestatee set numerous school records offensively, defensively, and in stolen bases. Coach Brewer was also a 2020 guest speaker at the Georgia Dugout Club Clinic where he presented his "New Age" style of base running. Coach Brewer has also helped over 20 players move on to play baseball collegiately or professionally. Brewer and his wife Nina have been married since 2018 and have one child, Kaiden.
email@example.com Lee Anderson joined Pinecrest as a teacher and coach in 2019 and served as assistant coach for Varsity Fencing and head coach for Varsity Golf his first year. In 2020, he took on the role of head coach of both Varsity Fencing and Varsity Golf. Coach Anderson also teaches Latin and AP Psychology in the high school.

Prior to coming to Pinecrest, Coach Martelli served in the following positions: Assistant Women’s Soccer Coach at United States Military Academy - ARMY; Head Coach for New York Storm SC (in which they became New York State U18B Champions in 1996); Head Women's Soccer Coach at Georgia State University; Head Women's Soccer Coach at Georgia Gwinnett College. He was also part of the Eastern New York Olympic Development Staff, Georgia Olympic Development Staff, and US Soccer Region III Olympic Development Staff for many years.
Since Mr. Martelli began coaching at Pinecrest, the Boys and Girls Soccer Teams have reached the Sweet 16 and Elite 8, The Final 4 and The State A Championship game in the GHSA State Playoffs. Coach Martelli was awarded Georgia State Coach of the Year from the United Soccer Coaches association in 2019. Mr. Martelli is a Middle School Math teacher at Pinecrest and is married to wife, Kirsten. They have a daughter, Brielle, and son, Nicolas '20.
email@example.com Erin McGraw has been coaching and teaching at Pinecrest Academy since 2008. She has served as Middle School Tennis Coach at Pinecrest since 2010 and as the Varsity Tennis Coach since 2014. Coach McGraw helped coach the Varsity Boys team to their first GHSA State Playoffs, making the Sweet 16 round in 2016. The Varsity Girls team made it to the GHSA Elite 8 round in 2016. McGraw also serves as the Middle and High School Theatrical Arts Teacher. She received the honor of Pinecrest Teacher of the Year in 2015-2016.
