Pinecrest Academy Received
$1 Million Anonymous Gift
Enabling Us to Begin Construction Of
Permanent Lower School Campus

In early 2011, Pinecrest received a $1 million gift to begin construction of our permanent Lower School campus! This enabled us to break ground far sooner than originally expected and take advantage of construction prices at 25 year lows. The new Lower School campus will be constructed in phases. Those phases, estimated according to today’s construction costs, are as follow:

Phase I – Activities Building  $1,400,000 - COMPLETED
Phase II – Multipurpose Building $3,600,000
(library, art, music, Spanish, computer lab, lunch room, offices)
Phase III – Classroom Building Boys $2,300,000
Phase IV – Classroom Building Girls $2,300,000
Phase V – Kindergarten/Pre-K Building $2,100,000
Phase VI – Administration Building $700,000

The Lower School must be built in phases to minimize cost and, most importantly, to minimize disruption to the academic day during construction.  Many have asked why not an academic building first.  The school has determined that the only way we can build academic classroom buildings without disrupting the academic day or closing down the Lower School during at least part of the academic year is to construct phases 1 and 2 first (Activities Building and Multi-purpose Building). Once that is done, we can take down Building F and replace it with our first academic classroom building. Significantly, the Activities Building is the least costly building in the plan. Having completed that structure, a considerable amount of pressure has been removed from our existing facilities allowing for more events and activities to remain on campus - a win for everyone.

At the time of the initial announcement of the project, we needed to raise an additional $400,000 to meet the $1.4 million price tag for the Activities Building.  Once we raise the additional $400,000, we would be ready to start construction. As of September1, 2010 we still need $133,000 from families and friends to begin construction! Your gift, no matter the size, gets us that much closer to beginning construction and allowing our students to benefit from all the activities, classes and events that will be housed in this new building!
