Pre-K

If you're looking for an outstanding private, Catholic preschool in North Atlanta, look no further.  From hugs and prayers in the morning to fun-filled learning for the rest of the day, Pre-K students at Pinecrest Academy thrive in a rich, warm, loving environment.

Because we recognize that each child is a gift from God, we love each child and teach biblical virtues through our Virtue of the Month program. We present academics and character formation in a developmentally appropriate way to provide a strong foundation for Christian leadership skills to grow. Our private preschool program has high academic standards but is flexible to meet the needs of each child at his/her developmental stage. We also incorporate Montessori materials that have been proven to develop intrinsic learning and fine motor skills.

Through our Christian Pre-K Program Students Learn:

  • Religion – Faith attributes of God, love of Jesus, Old and New Testament Bible stories, liturgical events/holidays.
  • Language Arts – letter recognition/phonics, beginning reading skills, speaking/listening skills, handwriting, sentence structure.
  • Math – number recognition/concepts, shapes, counting concepts, beginning addition/subtraction, money, calendar concepts.
  • Science – space, earth science/plants, water, life science/animals, human body, concepts of the scientific process.
  • Social Studies – historical figures, patriotic themes, geography.

We also offer P.E., art, music, chapel visits, show and tell, library visits and activities to develop fine and gross motor skills. Our students attend Mass once a week. They also visit the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd atrium once a week. Young children are particularly capable of receiving the most essential elements of the faith, and in the Atrium, materials on the life of Jesus Christ and his teachings help make the mystery of God concrete for the child.

Social skills are developed at this age as well. Our teachers work with children to:
  • Practice problem-solving in social situations
  • Recognize and express feelings and emotions
  • Work in groups or with a partner on projects
  • Share classroom materials
  • Practice using manners
  • Communicate needs and take care of their own basic needs
Our low student/teacher ratio allows us to give personal attention to each child. By working in small groups, teachers are able to instruct many different levels, making sure all students’ academic needs are met. Small class sizes also allow teachers to work with different learning styles while still meeting academic objectives that are necessary for Kindergarten. Activities leading to reading and math readiness are also a large portion of our program.

Pinecrest’s distinctive learning environment allows students to know that they are safe and loved, thus feeling secure enough to explore and gain self-confidence in their God-given talents. Our top-notch private PreK program is the perfect entry point to prepare for a rigorous Catholic academic life that leads to a successful Pinecrest graduate.
Pinecrest Academy's private Catholic PreK is conveniently located in Cumming (South Forsyth), GA, just minutes from Alpharetta, Johns Creek, Suwanee and Milton.
